New type packaging box for the Plarail Shinkansen Evangelion 500 EVA. Wonder if this is how all new Plarails will come or is it exclusive to this Evangelion only. Personally I would welcome this new squarish look as it would be much easier, finding a perfect sized shipping box if I have something to sell.
I bet that this packaging is exclusive. Packaging like this only occurs in Plarail Disney sets, if I recall correctly.
Super I agree that this shape of box is better on so many levels especially taking the train out and putting it back in its packaging, I am currently struggling with getting all my trains nicely put back in their boxes. but I am willing to bet it is special packaging for this limited edition.

I'd a rate this packaging ⑨/10, since you could put these boxes on a bookshelf, but they are not book sized, but the Advance series boxes are book sized.

Didn't think of that, good point, the long narrow boxes are hard to get the trains back into their sleeve with the styrofoam blocks.. With a squarish box it should make it easier to stack and store in containers.

Good point these squarish boxes do make it easier to display on a shelf bookwise
So did you get one then Super? I keep looking, but there doesn't appear to be many around just yet.

I for one prefer that style of packaging it definitely works for PlaRail Advance, maybe that is the thinking behind it...
I am on the waiting list at Hobby Search for this one as it took me quite a while to decide if I wanted it or not so I missed out on the pre-order. My guess is it just released yesterday as this is the first "live" photo I have seen anywhere as it has been only pre-orders on Ebay and Japan Auctions up until now.
Just wondered as I missed the pre-orders for both the PlaRail and Advance versions, not to mention the Shorty one Sad

Still at least I got in on the Shorty Star Wars pre-order Smile

I'm hoping this latter comes with a sheet of stickers as well as the pre-printed carriages as then I may be able to do a custom PlaRail Advance using them Smile

Ok, a bit of info for you, it seems a rash of the PlaRail version have appeared on Jauce today, I checked on Amazon.co.jp the official release of the PlaRail version is 23rd June. Similarly the official release date for the Advance version is 1st July, I've pre-ordered the latter through 'From Japan' (you can buy from retailers through them as well as auctions Big Grin)...
i wonder if that new box means they will be releasing a few in this range?

the window cutout is different to those on the disney dream boxes. the bullet trains have the same angle on the corner, but are longer. it seems odd to make a new style for just one release.
even I cannot resist this train I will buy it the second Hobbysearch has it in stock I estimate the 23rd of June my Birthday!
