Blue Plastic Tracks

Postman was very kind to us today with a big box of treasures.





First up...The C-57. Wanted one of these for a while. This tender driven model is a huge, nicely detailed engine and that is what mostly attracted me to her. Why?...because I love steam engines. It also comes with a great coach with windows and the whole rear end is clear. Great for a lighting upgrade.



This is our second set of double C-62's with sound. I wanted to add the trailing sound engine from this set to the two we already have creating a back to back to back power house that will have two engines making steam sounds as they ramble down the rails. Why?...because I love love steam trains. I love these sets with the front couplers on the engines. Will probably just sell the lead engine as we do have a lot of steamers.



Just had to have these two C-12's...Why?...because I love steam engines and we did not have any of the tender-less steam engines.



Had to have this unique looking steam engine, the JR Kyushu 58654, Why?...because I love steam trains. Plus it also has the trailing coach with the whole rear in glass just begging for a lighting package.



Set of DD-14 Diesels. What I like about these is, not only does the trailing (sound) engine have a front coupling, the lead, motorized, engine also does making for some unique train set ups or for many multiple engines pulling a super long rake of rolling stock. The trailing engine has a Diesel sound package.



Now for my favorites of the delivery today...The black Benkel and the green Disney Western River R.R. Steam engines, Why?...because I love steam engines. I most admit that the reason I bought the Disney one was to swap wheels with the Benkei, making the Benkei all black and then swap its yellow long rods with some gray ones that are on a Henry or Gordon that I have in our to sell box. But now that I have the Disney one here where I can study it, I am quite impressed. The details on the Disney and being colorful like these trains were in the old American west have got me thinking. I am going to mod this one. It is prepped for log rods so that may be the first swap I do. Some home made decals for the flags and create my own decals with windows and replace the Goofy ones (pun intended). Swap in a hefty motor and away we go. I have the red Mickey Disney train on its way so maybe swapping the red Benkei wheels on to the red Mickey train will work better. That way I can have my all black Benkei.

What a haul! I've got myself one of those C57 engines; cheers to ucwepn for showing me that it was worth the purchase! I love those engines, and would love to own that lead unit of the C-62s if I got the chance; need more real life steamers as diesels are slowly taking over my real life engine collection asides from Thomas & Friends engines being the clear steam winners. Very nice!

Thank you so much. Oh, yes the temptation of opening that C57; I luckily received mine before the end of the Christmas season, 1 day before Christmas Eve, and promptly converted it to work with my collection. I love watching it run, and have it outside the box on display in my room; can't leave that handsome engine trapped in its cardboard box. Just doesn't do it justice.

Nice haul you got there. You certainly haven't held back on Yahoo Japan. :-)

Those Western style engines are really neat aren't they. I recently completed the full set of them, with at least 1 of the different types.

With regard to upgrading the motor in the Green Disney train (or others like it - top switch), be careful. The gearbox is a poor design. If you bump them or put excess load (hold the wheels) a idler pinion gear slips out of position, or even worse the gear splits. It is fixable if you have spare 12? tooth pinion or can work out which gear to slip back in place . It occurs quite easily so I wouldn't suggest the increase stress of an upgrade motor. I have 3 that are prone to the gear slipping out of place, even after gluing, and another 2 extras in my spares box just in case

Wow! You are a lucky steamer! You have some rare locomotives in that! That large C12 is really rare! (The singular steam engine with the the more circular shape) You even have Disney Locomotives! Those are not easy to get! good job!

I know you added the new Disney Dream Mickey Mouse, did you add more than what is in your great YouTube Video?

Thanks for the advice on upgrading the motors and the possible gearing problem, good advice. I will have to rethink that part of the mod. All you Western engines run pretty good in the video. If mine run as well there would be no reason to swap out the motor but now I am curious to take one apart to look at the gearing. That will probably be the Red Mickey when it comes as I will be swapping his wheels and I like the green & Gold Goofy better that the red Mickey.

I use to think a ton of trains were rare or just hard to find too. That is until I was turned on to Japans Yahoo Auctions. Now just about every dream I have had of owning particular Trains has been fulfilled, some 2 and 3 times over

nice haul! really like that fancy coach that came with the kyushu. very pretty!

The coach is very nicely detailed too and with something I know you will appreciate. The shell comes off and there are 3 chairs for Plakids to ride in. Two passengers and a place for an Attendant or Conductor in the far back where the windows are. I have been thinking about taking all of our coaches that Plakids can ride in and glue (removable rubber cement) them in as they end up popping out of their seats and rattling around when we play with the trains. We have well over 100 Plakids so its not like we will run out.
