I've also had bad luck too. When one of the first lots I bought arrived, I got a 'lovely' surprise to find they had lived in a sand pit. Everything was jammed full of sand and not working. Took me ages to pull apart about 20 trains and accessories to clean and remove sand. Not fun at all getting all the sand from the drive units but on the flip side I quickly learned a lot about the inner working of these trains and can now fix most problems with them.
