Here we have the Limited Edition Super Rail Cargo Set and much to my surprise, like the orange container truck described earlier in this thread, this silver container truck is motorized. I have another silver container truck that came with the large Super Cargo Set with train and HiLo and it isn't motorized, go figure. There are magnets inside the containers so the HiLo can pick up them up. Also pictured are various diecast vehicles for the layout and for just playing with.

As far as I know, there are 2 variations of the Disney Steam Trains. One variation is pictured below in my next post and called the Western River R.R. and has quite a lot of detail and gold trim and the coaches are fancy too. There are 3 in this variation, Red, "Colorado" Mickey Mouse train, The green, "Missouri" Goofy train and the blue, "Mississippi" Donald Duck Train. There seems to be 2 different releases in this line too for the red and green ones as you will read in my next post. There is also a red and green release called the "Disney Railroad" and does not have the detailing like the Western River release has. The coaches also only hold special figures that will only fit these while the Western River R.R. can take any of the PlaKids sitting down. The engines are not named either, instead it just says "Disney" on the sides. My recommendation is, if you are interested in one of these, find the Western River R.R. release with the battery held in the tender.

Is this the red and white truck you are referring to? It is a Zamboni that is used to resurface hockey/skating rinks and of course it it used for my favorite hockey team "The Detroit Red Wings".

Now we have 3 New Disney trains.

*First, the Mickey and Friends Train was really an impulse buy and more to put away for future Great Grandchildren's play. I wanted to buy this new (at a good price) because you just don't see the 4 characters, Minnie & Mickey Mouse, Daisy & Donald Duck, included with the used ones seen at the Japan Auctions and now I know why. They didn't make any means for the characters to stay still in the car. They would bounce, move around and topple over in their ride around the rails. I can see that because of this they would get lost or separated easily. Tomy, it wouldn't have been too had to come up with some idea for them to stay in place. Something as easy as a short post on the seat and a hole in the bottom of the character to hold them still. Geesh, I will have to resort to using rubber cement to hold them down but I am still considering a permanent glue so they never get separated. This engine is pretty fast too.

Neither of the next two trains should be confused with the green & red Tomy Disney Railroad releases as they are different. The Disney Railroad releases don't have the detailing and engine names like the Western River Railroad ones do.

* Next we have the “One of a Kind” Blue Tokyo Disneyland Western River Railroad Steam Engine replica called the “Mississippi” number 20 featuring Donald Duck in the cab window on one side and Huey, Dewey & Louie on the other. I wanted this one to complete the set of 3. Not a fast runner and I was surprised to see that this must be a newer (I think) release of the Western River Railroad as a AA battery is placed in the engine and not in the tender as my other red and green ones are. Not too fast this one, in fact slower than the tender battery ones. It sure is pretty and colorful though even the carriage which is waiting for 6 PlaKid park visitors to be seated. And Surprise, surprise, a "AA" Battery is included in the box.

* Now we already have a Green Western River Railroad Train but I bought this new one because I could not find any carriages for sale and we had none. Wouldn't you know it, I have since found one on the Japan Auctions so now I will have 2.. This highly detailed Green Tokyo Disneyland Western River Railroad Steam engine replica is called the “Missouri” number 28 featuring Goofy in the cab window on one side and a young Goofy on the other. Like the Blue Steam engine described above, this one has the AA battery in the engine not in the tender. I am not sure which came first but I have to assume that this release is the latest. Not as strong a runner as the earlier ones so I am not sure which will be my everyday runner but I am leaning towards the tender battery train because its faster and the distance between the tender and engine is shorter. Like the one above the detailed carriage is waiting for its PlaKid passengers. And Surprise, surprise again, a "AA" Battery is included in the box.

yes, the zamboni is what i meant. the back of the seat looks like a rhino horn on that angle, lol.

good info on the disney trains. i love the diesel with the clear cars. you are right that it wouldnt have been hard to mould a small post and hole to make the characters stay... they did it for pooh and hello kitty. not sure on doraemon, i think that got missed too.
Here we have picked up 5 more Storage Garages to add to the 8 we already have for a grand total of 13. We like them because they are super heavy duty, easily stacked and a great way to store the trains for easy accessibility. I think it will also be a great way to just wrap them up for long term storage and the trains will be well protected.

Managed to pick up an extra middle coach for the Virgin Express I was looking for.

And finally won an auction on Ebay pretty cheaply for 3 sets of train crossing lights and one set of spot lights. They run on 4.5 volts either from batteries or for the 110 volt plug in power pack that has 4 leads to run four sets of lights. Power pack came with these but I forgot to include it in the picture. I plan on modifying the crossing lights, which flash red and are very bright, to shorten them closer to scale. The spot lights will be used on a train yard tower to illuminate an area of the layout.

* Normally I wouldn't be interested in an electric train like this but I was attracted to the different look and color of the Odakyu Romance Car MSE 6000. Add this to the trains working headlights and I had to pick one up. I did have to use black marker on the clear plastic on the underside of where the headlights are because too much light emitted under the train lighting up the rails. It was distracting and although not perfect, adding the black marker improved it immensely. Might have to disassemble to block all light emitted below. The picture shows the improved lighting so you can imagine how much more light shone on the tracks originally. Wonder why nobody saw this in quality control? The motor is 2 speed, normal and very fast but is louder than most. I like how the rear car is not a reversed duplicate of the front but still has rearward facing windows.

Storage garages look good, are they specifically designed for the trains or another product you have chosen to use?

The garage/train case are specifically made for these Tomy trains and it also can be used in the layout as a 4 lane garage/station. Each slide out tray holds four, 3 car trains. Check it out HERE, HERE and HERE.

Impulse buy! Like another train listed in this Finale the Odakyu Romance Car 5000 VSE was bought for a future custom Mod. Like the Romance Car MSE 6000 this train has a 2 speed motor and high speed is quite fast. Lots of green tinted windows on this Express train. The real train has articulating cars. Extra middle coaches were purchased to coincide with the arrival of the train for a nice sized train. The list of future mods and customizations is getting long and will give me entertainment and something to look forward to.
