Great videos Vio.

Technically speaking that C-62's workings are amazing for its time. In real life is it easier to hear the whistle sounds than in the video? Seems like the cameras microphone amplifies the motor noises. I also like the chunky Coal details in the tender. The light reflecting on the flats gives it a much better look than the small dull coal loads of other engines tenders.

Great display of your collection. Didn't you say your father also has some vintage Plarail like especially an original snow thrower train?

Whistle is hardly ever heard, but if it ever comes out, it will be a loud screech like someone's nails scratching the blackboard. It was running for 20 minutes and the only time the whistle was heard was at the 7th minute, lasting for barely a second. It will be quite a nasty surprise if your ears are sensitive.
The motor is very noisy in real life, in fact is the most noisy one in my collection.

It is my grandmother who has it. That rotary snowplough is the only one she has, but its the ultimate gem compared to my collection. It was never opened from the protective packaging ever since it got so mouldy and rusty and its locked in her house. It was a single vehicle release so it is even harder to find than the set version. The single release did not have the passenger train bound for Ueno so it was taken from a junk store. Since the plastic box had so much space, we needed one more car to fill that gap. So it is the complete 3 car set as seen from the set version. Definitely want one myself, but it is way too rare so the price could go up to 150000 yen.

Thanks for this video Vio. This is a great Plarail gimmick for its time, unfortunately the whistle is drowned out by the motor. I can hear it faintly in the first example propped up with the drive wheels disengaged by the batteries. Strangely I can hear it the best running on the elevated rail with the camera's view farther away. This may help since the camera's microphone doesn't pick up the roar of the motor so loudly. I do love the look of this C-62 especially that Tender. A large red middle wheel would have made it perfect.

It is said to be the father of all vehicle sound gimmick of Plarail, as said before the motor is the loudest one in the collection, loud enough to drown the whistles sound. The sounds are louder in real life. Do also notice that the whistle can’t be heard as well on the left side of the vehicle where the whistle hole is located, which is strange. In the future I might find a way to soften the motor’s sound. The motor is different from other Plarail and is not easy to detach without soldering tools.
