N Gauge German ICE Set - Nigels - 04-29-2016

How about this for an interesting 'N' Gauge set for those who don't want to invest in the expensive sets. Modelled on the German ICE (InterCity Express) this set gives you a 4 car set and a considerable amount of track for a mere £29.99

The cars are diecast and contain a re-chargeable battery system. This gets 'charged' on a special piece of track allegedly in 1 minute and then gives 3 minutes of 'running time'.

All in all not bad as the cars are quite detailed and accurate models and as I said a good entry for someone who wants 'N' Gauge for themselves or their kids but don't have so much room for say PlaRail Smile

Nice inexpensive set. So I take it that regular N scale trains won't run on these non-powered tracks I wonder if this is the same gauge track?

No that's true normal N scale models won't run on these tracks unless self powered as they normally draw their current from the metal tracks.

However having said that these tracks are the correct scale, so could be used for display of static N scale models as produced in Japan or similar.

In a similar vein these trains could potentially travel on metal tracks, although how you'd charge them is another issue lol!

But they are cool and great for little kids you don't want to let get their hands on your real N scale models.

BTW - Fleishmann do make the DRB 01.10 in N scale, in fact they have 3 variants apparently as well as a 01.11, the cheapest is (take a breath) £169 and that is only because it is on special, normally they are all over £200 Smile
