One small thing to mention, while talking about the newer trains, when I opened the pack with mr freeze Ferdinand, I had to snap the back of the train together on most of them as the back of each piece wasn't quite all the way together. And many of them the head pieces were oddly a bit loose. I don't remember noticing others ever having small detail issues like that.

Thanks for these.
Does anyone have the Shazam! Bert and 'Arry side by side?

Are the 2017 wave 2 loco's still unweighted like the wave 1? Just curious as I saw the wave 2 this weekend, but after the disappointment of wave 1 (felt totally ripped off as they are just crap quality) I didn't buy any, I've not even finished wave 1 as I couldn't be bothered due to the changes...

I've been collecting variations of the trains based on the names on the bottom. For example Superman Thomas has 3: one says just Thomas, another says Superman Thomas (SSCC Set) another says SM-Thomas. It's just something fun to do and a good excuse to keep looking at previously released product. I'm not sure if this interests anyone but I'm thinking about putting together a variation list. It seems to be the DC ones for now but may increase with other crossovers. It's also fun to find new trains that have weights in them.

2017 wave 2 are still unweighted, Nigels. Sadly. I'm too deep myself to not just keep going, though. I'm just shy of 290 now.

Glad the package came in one piece, Pablo. Awesome.

That's next level collecting, mike. Don't think I've really truly payed attention enough to decipher what all variants on the bottom really mean.

Here's the 'arry (left) and new Bert (right). Seem near identical to me really. The detail around 'arry's head is nicer I think but the side of Bert has sharper crisper dark lines in all the detail.

As for the others I posted, I think the biggest neglects are the newer riddler' wheels don't match the purple on the body like the older one does. And the new hawkman and flash don't have the bolts or wings on the sides of their heads. That's pretty lame,in my opinion. The older flash has a nicer darker red on the body, but that could be just as much my preference to the look of the colour. And I do think the wings from above look much sloppier on the newer hawkman

Yep, I'm interested. I haven't put too much thought into variations, but I have thought they deserve their own checkboxes (and people can just ignore them if they don't care). I've thought a little bit on how to display/hide that level of information but haven't come up with anything satisfactory, so maybe getting a list from you will help. If you use my checklist and there's anything specific I could do to help with variations, let me know.

The only physical variation I'm aware of is the different versions of Skarloey's smokestack. Has anyone seen any other physical variations?

Drew,

I'll DM you a list of what I've found so far. I like your checklist and was thinking if there was a section where we could show the bottoms of the trains so people can see what hey have. Or could it could just be a text version that has a list of what's written on the bottom. Another variation list could also be weights and no weights. Only reason I would add that is that some of the repackaged trains in the DC 9 packs for example have no weights but different name variations on the bottom. Wouldn't really be too tough to put together. More just if others would like to add them to their collections or if I just enjoy this for my own collection.

That's curious as I have a superman Thomas that's not from sdcc that says "superman Thomas" underneath

RE: thomas and friends mini series - Nigels - 03-13-2017

Thanks for the info Reivax, well it seems I won't be bothering with the post-2016 models then, shame as I thought they were pretty cute/nice and great to collect. But I'm just not up for collecting these poor quality things they are putting out now, what a total rip... Sad

That's cool if you have one that wasn't one included in the SDCC set. But it's pretty interesting the different ones out there. Bet you'll be looking at the bottoms of your trains now Wink

If anyone is looking for older engines for some reason, including few classics, someone on ebay is selling 6 x 3 packs for $27, which sounds like a reasonable price to me.
