Why Can't They Make......

Why can't Plarail make this Station or one like it again?. Not sure exactly when this station was released but it is awesome. My guess would be...the 70's or 80's? Its beautifully lit and the trains route board looks like it actually lights up the locations and can be changed by pushing the buttons maybe. Come on Plarail, how about coming out with a Limited Edition Scenic Nostalgia Line where you re-release some oldies like this and others like the ever elusive, rarest of them all,, light house? Why can't they make neat light up scenic things again besides just signal posts.

Sadly these days lovely detailed items like this don't come along so often, these days the kids just want quick fixes, so if it bleeps a bit and flashes an LED somewhere they are generally happy for 5 minutes before they go back to their iPad or whatever.

Unfortunately kids don't generally appreciate things like this anymore as they don't get the asthetics or the detail to attention our generation did/does. Of course if Tomy were to wake up to the fact that the real fans of their lines were adults then maybe we'd have this sort of thing again.

But for now if you want high detail and realism you need to go to HO or N gauge railway systems it seems

Its too bad that part of the roof is broken off as I would have bid on this one. Besides the roof, the rest of the station looks to be in great condition.

It's rather odd, but I fantasize the day Tomy releases some form of "anniversary" line of sets that call back to the older times when destinations didn't need to have its color pallet consist of all the colors of the rainbow.. That isn't to say that's the case with all destinations, but newer ones seem to be going in this direction.

thats a nice station. be great to have something like that to add a point of difference. the switch on the front looks the same as that used by the merry-go range, so based on that, im guessing 70s. if you could see underneath, i bet it would have the two little kids logo.

you know what i was wishing for last night? 1/2 or 1/4 curves. we can get those lengths in straights, but not in curves.

You should get it anyway Super, after all 3D printers are continuing to drop in price and eventually you could just print yourself a new roof to replace the broken one or even just a piece to fix the missing part

Thats an interesting thought Nigels. I am content on waiting for one that hopefully will be in the same condition without a broken roof.

Interesting idea, 1/2 curves although I am wondering if they were laid in opposing directions like a wiggle would trains derail.

The name of the station is "Light station".

Product name: "Station with light".

The metal switch turns on the lights.

The blue push buttons just move some plastic inside the station to allow or block light through the dots on the map.

Thanks Plarnold. Because of your help I found this video, this station is awesome.

they likely would cause a derail if laid wrong. im working on a layout for the show, and came up with a bunch of small gaps in the curves that could only be filled with the small straight pieces. would be nice to have something to fill those little gaps.
