I tried to make what a J70 would look like in the 21st century.

What other engines should I do next?

LOL...silly me...I thought you meant you made a model not edited a picture.

Here's another modern interpretation...

Honestly though, I think I prefer @Sakamoto's interpretation to what Mattel seems to think a J70 looks like lol 🀣

(That said, Toby might be one of the few Thomas characters that I actually think hasn't been totally ruined by the AEG style, but still, AEG, blech)

Believe it or not, that's actually a fan made edit by Twitter user TrainToons. Even his watermark is in the bottom right corner. He made several (rather convincing) AEG style takes on characters that haven't appeared yet, such as Duck, BoCo, Stepney, Stanley, Stephen and Rebecca. The show's team are apparently looking for a new wheel colour to add some more "life" to Toby before he could show up (brown, red or blue, but they might choose another one). Sorry to break it to you.

@DalaGStanator

Welp, there goes any praise I had for Mattel... Again πŸ˜‚

Also, I've been watching Season 1 of T&F again (bought the DVD) and it really just reminds me how far things have fallen!

I know S1 was arguably the closest to the books because it had a fair bit of oversight by the Rev. Awdry himself, but wow, when you hold it up against AEG, no contest.

Even the later seasons where they stopped adapting the books and made some fairly 'meh' original plots were still better, I feel like they were still being more creative, but hey, maybe that's just me ^_^

(Incidentally, I like Toby as he's kind of my local character, being a Great Eastern design of tram engine; My local railway is the former Great Eastern so yeah ☺️)
