These are the 2 Japanese speaking releases of James and the third is the British accented Talk 'N action version...I've been unable to locate any literature or confirming box art that a Japanese speaking original T'nA James was produced along w/ the Thomas,Percy, Henry,Gordon,Toby,& D-10..

Is the "action" they speak of just that he is motorized or does he do something else besides talking? I like the more compact box (makes it easier to fins a shipping box) but as with the long ones you can't see the third unit through the window. In this case I am guessing the red coach. Thanks for posting.

The action part are the little green activation track pieces that are placed throughout the layout...when the train passes over them it does various things...speeds up, stops then go's , or changes phrases, chuffing sounds, or music...

Oh...these taking vintage trains work with those tracks. Aren't those tracks also used with some more easily attainable engines that talk and have action?

Yes their English speaking counterparts are often available...They come in American accent/phrases, and British accent/phrase versions..

I have the British versions of Thomas, Percy and James. Thomas is by far the easiest to acquire.

I don't get it about Rocky please explain? I just ordered the Rocky and Percy set is that one also non motorized?
