Hi Guys and Gals here is my small ERTL collection so far, I grab them when I see them for sale at car boot sales, charity shops, flea markets in good condition and occasionally on ebay, I have Godred and Rheneas on the way at the time of posting this Big Grin

Nice collection Ucwepn

I am not familiar with all the Thomas Ertl stuff, are they motorized or just push type? I am guessing that the two long ones are James and Gordon with coal tenders attached? If they run on tracks its hard to see them navigating curves very well..
Hi Super, yes the long ones are rigid as are the wheelsets, they are push along like a hotwheels car but for thomas fans. Thomas is sitting on the only piece of track I have and it is very wide and the long locos look silly on it around curves
My brother used to have a lot of ertl stuff when we were younger, I think it all got thrown away as old toys do, they had been well played with and they were very chipped (on the die cast bodies) and damaged (on the plastic couplings) last year my son was visiting my mum and dad's house and found my brothers ertl Percy, it was by the pond in the back garden, I can only imagine it had been out in the damp soil for the past 5 years + but it was still in remarkably good condition, some bits had start corroding like the screws underneath which hold the plastic base & bottom to the die cast top, also where the paint had chipped off it had started corroding.

It made me think about how much my brother loved those trains so Christmas this year I bought him a job lot of ertl trains from eBay, I think he liked them!
Great story Tramp and to think that it was probably your brother who had forgotten he left Percy out there so long ago. One thing good about Ebay is that it has saved toys from the trash bin and parents from throwing away there kids toys when they grow out of them. I like to type in some of the play sets I had when I was young just to reminisce since they are still around on Ebay, Sets Like Fort Apachie and Battle of the Blue and the Grey, brings back great memories of great times.
some more I got recently, Just bought even more rarer ones Spencer, Emily, Fergus and Arthur. Pics when they arrive.

Great collection Ucwepn

Are those motorized engines and are the figures also rare Ertl ones? The engines look to be nicely detailed. They look new as I can't see any blemishes.
Hi super they are not motorized just free rolling, I always try and buy the best condition ones because I want to get a shelf like yours and display them. The figures are 1:64 scale from greenlight.
Thanks Ucwepn

Here is a dumb question...are all Ertl trains free rolling.
super, most ertl were free wheeling, but some had pull back mechanisms. i have a bertie with the pull back. i think they released both versions of some characters, so you could buy bertie as pull back or free rolling.
