Hmmm, curves like that may prove to be problematic in large layouts where things may not want to line up well with no quarter curves.

You can see the new tracks in these expansion packs

And these sets illustrate how the 60-degree curves work:

I’m glad we bought our stuff back when. I doubt we’ll be buying much Fisher Price stuff going forward.

@ Fred Pelhay- Those expansion packs look a bit like the old sets. The ridiculous secondary market price on the straight tracks makes me think that too.

If they make it easier for kids to assemble sets on their own, that’s okay. However, it certainly decreases the amount of flexibility and creativity kids can use in building their own layouts. I’m sure market testing has probably shown them that kids don’t build their own layouts (and we certainly don’t want to encourage creativity) so they don’t see that as a negative.

The expansion packs are new. The straight track pack used to have an SKU of DFM56 and came with twelve pieces at three different sizes. Now it's GGM03 and only contains eight pieces of one size.
And you're right, every new measure they take for the track seems to be to prohibit any kind of creativity.

Wow, so even the NEW straight track is going for silly amounts of money! Thanks for clearing up my confusion on that Fred!

That’s really a shame because the regular dark gray tracks from Trackmaster 2 are one of the few things I LIKE about that line!

This is why I don't buy the new Trackmaster stuff

Nia appears to be authetic. To celebrate Thomas' 75 anniversairy, a metallic paint version of thomas and Percy will be released. Each set with come with a coin. I am not sure if the rolling stock will be painted with metallic pain either
