We have talked about these in the past as they are so neat. I liked them because they seem to take up less room in a Layout that the newer, red, U-turns. I don't think we discussed the fact that the outside rail at the top of the loop was raised at least I don't remember it having that. We did discuss how the width of the entrance and exit was probably so a train wouldn't de-rail going through such a narrow diameter turn and how the rails width was so unusual. I know Sunhuntin has a set of these and my efforts to obtain always were met with much competition in the auctions. It is an interesting piece for sure.

What does it look like on the back? Is it reversible, or is there an adverse/negative camber?

Good question Dr Chris. I do know the the Original Benkei set had 2 sets of these U-Turns which I would assume that the male/female ends should be the opposite.

The C-58 set has 2 sets too. Auctions of these don't come up often, like once or twice a year.

Ah...so my mind is not deceiving me as I had thought there was 3 releases of the C-58. This one and the 2 pictured below.

Phantom Gem 70: Longer Switch Kansai Colour

There is a saying that the longer switch Kansai Colour is the first type of Kansai Colour and the shorter switch Kansai Colour belongs to the final phase of production. To make it short, the longer switch Kansai Colour is the first type of train to be included in the 近郊型でんしゃふみきりえきセット, as Yokosuka Colour only exists in shorter switch form. However the Kansai Colour could be 100 or 150 times more rare than the Yokosuka Colour as the box states that the original train is Yokosuka Colour. I wrote about 近郊型でんしゃふみきりえきセット in the first pages of this thread.

Is that blue pier really needed for the 2 slopes to connect or is it really there to extend the distance with 2 straight rails? In other words, does the slopes have the nibs to connect one straight rail so it supports itself without the need of a pier?
