Yes, that is the correct livery for a BR (British Rail) Era model, so that is what it should be carrying. But I've never been one to necessarily follow tradition, it all depends what decals I can find in that scale.

That's a Hornby 00 gauge model of a terrier in BR black livery... Quite attractive, pre-BR they would be that orangey brown colour that Stepney carries
